41% of Londoners oppose abortion in almost all circumstances

Polling from earlier this year shows that over 41% of Londoners believe abortion should be illegal in almost all circumstances.

In a social attitudes survey in April this year a sample of over 10,000 people were asked whether they agree or disagree with the following statement:

“I believe that abortion should be illegal except in exceptional circumstances (i.e. when the mother’s health is at risk).”

41.3% of people from London surveyed said they agreed with this statement. This is more than 10% higher than the nation as a whole of which 31% agreed with the statement.

Of the age brackets surveyed, almost 40% of 18-34 year olds agreed with the statement, making them the age group with the largest percenage of people who are generally opposed to abortion.

Over 55s in Britain were least likely to agree with this statement, with less than 25% agreeing with the proposition.

Spokesperson for Right To Life UK said:

“To put this poll in perspective, 41.3% of Londoners is over 3.5 million in London alone that take a strong position on abortion. This means that there a very large core base of support for the pro-life cause in London.

ComRes polling from 2017 showed 60% of people want the time limit for abortion to be reduced to below 20 weeks. This polling reveals further that over half of that number want abortion to be almost completely illegal.”

“Interestingly as well, the polling shows that younger generations are significantly more opposed to abortion than older generations. In which case, as time goes on, Britain should become more sympathetic to the pro-life view which recognises that the lives of both the mother and her child are important.”

Help stop major anti-life threats.

Dear reader,

In 2021 abortion campaigners brought forward an amendment to the UK Government’s flagship Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill that would have introduced abortion on demand, for any reason, up to birth (including sex-selective abortion).

Thanks to the support from people like you, this amendment did not go to a vote and pass, but we expect the abortion lobby to make another attempt to introduce this extreme abortion law change shortly.

This would be the single biggest change to abortion legislation since 1967 and would leave England and Wales with one of the most extreme abortion laws in the world.

Please sign the petition to the Prime Minister, asking him to ensure that his Government does everything in its power to stop the introduction of abortion up to birth.
